W.D. Bruce

Chairman

Bill joined the company in 1954 as a clerk. He rose through all elected offices and was elected President in 1973. He became Chairman of the Board in 2006. He is a graduate of Northwestern University and is both a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries. He and his wife Patricia collectively have eight children and fifteen grandchildren. Bill is an avid golfer.

Edmund J. Kulpins

President

Ed began his insurance career with the Prudential in 1954. During the ensuing 20 years, he also worked with Amalgamated Life and an insurance consulting firm. He joined ELCO in 1974 as its Group Insurance Manager. Through the years, he was elected to various offices and in 2006 was elected President. He is also Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for all investments of the company. Ed and his wife Joan have four children and four grandchildren.




Robert E. Bruce

Secretary

Bob has served as ELCO’s Secretary since the company’s inception in 1946. He is also the President of Bruce & Bruce Company, Consulting Actuaries. He has served as Secretary and President of the Conference of Actuaries, Treasurer and Vice-President of the Academy of Actuaries, and President of the Fraternal Actuaries Association. He is a graduate of Northwestern and Michigan Universities with BS and MS degrees. He has 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. A marathon runner for many years, Bob perennially ran his age in miles on his birthday through his 70th year.

David A. Bruce

Executive Vice President

David started with Employees Life in the new business department in 1985. In 1987 he became an Assistant Vice President. Two years later, he assumed the position as the company’s claims manager. He became an Associate-Life Health Claims with the International Claims Association in 1996, shortly after becoming Vice President. In 2006, he was elected ELCO’s Executive Vice President. He and his wife Meredith have one daughter and one son.




Richard P. Leach

Senior Vice President

Richard began his insurance career with Employees Life as the Supervisor of the Brokerage Division in 1980. He became a Vice President for the company in 1983 and is now Senior Vice President in charge of marketing, new business, and agency. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and has also attained the designations of Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Certified Senior Advisor (CSA). He and his wife Beverly have three children. Away from work, he can be usually found outdoors -- hunting, fishing or shooting clay target sports.

Roger Grum

Vice President

Roger applied for the mail room job in 1981. On his first day of work, he made a wrong turn and ended up in the computer room and never left that department. In 1996 he became a Vice President for the company and now heads the Information Systems department, building the alignment of technology and business. He is constantly upgrading his knowledge with seminars and schooling. Away from the office, he spends time with his family and enjoys anything with an engine or less than four wheels.
